AntiqueSterling Silver Sewing Thimble Finger Guard English* Circa 1870 Thissolid sterling silver (tested) finger guard or shield was worn on theindexfinger of the left hand and used to deflect the needle's point as itwas pushed through the fabric being stitched. A regular thimble wasused on the right hand. It has all over ribbing. Englishsilversmithsdidn't mark small items (and have to pay duty on them) until requiredto by law in the 1880s. The cond...itionis excellent, in round with no dents, repairs or other damage. It isabout anAmerican size 7(14.5 mm diameter opening).
