Here is a dated 1806 carved and painted mangle board/linen smoother. Measuring 23" in length by 5 1/2" at its widest point by 6" in height at its highest point, it is very finely carved and wonderfully painted. Over the many years I have had three other mangle boards and this one is hands down the nicest one. If you look at other sold mangle boards, this has got to be one of the nicest ones out there. Note the coral colored paint of the highlights of the horse, on the edges of his face..., his neck, the haunches, the underside edge.
