Antique Mission Arts & Crafts Stickley Era quartersawn OAK BOOKCASE with lower glass door compartment. Original oak wood patina, commonly referred to as California Golden Oak. Well made, solid as a rock. Hand doweled craftsmanship. Drop down oak framed glass door, original antique spring loaded hinges. Condition is used. Ships USPS PARCEL SELECT GROUND. There are a couple of somewhat similar designs - featuring in part the round grab holes/back slats/ half moon side cutouts - of this open bookcase shown on Antiques Atlas references, which mentions the Scottish School Arts and Crafts and the cabinet maker Wylie and Lockheed with E. A. Taylor, or possibly C.R. Mackintosh, as possible craftsmen. I can find the bookcase design itself, but not one with the bottom shelf designed with an original top tension knob latch & double hinged glass door, or with the original concept of the side walls made with full length half moon cut outs. The designs and styles of Arts and Crafts open bookcases were numerous, with furniture makers from around the world competing with new and interesting (and borrowed) whether designs for public demand. Whether European or American, the bookcase is unique, expertly made, professionally designed and very difficult to find. Age: based on age of materials and overall design, 1900 - 1930s. Condition: used. Excellent in my opinion.Expected edge nicks. A couple of the flat wood button accents are missing, easily replaced from a craft store or anyone selling wood craft parts on Ebay if new owner so desires. Original finish and dark patina. Top shelf is darker than other shelves from years of use and polish (see last photo in photo gallery. Glass is perfect. Dust in crevices. No cracks. No chips or dents. No dry rot. Beautiful piece.
