BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE FRENCH HAND PAINTED MINIATURE OF A YOUNG COUPLE SNUFF BOX Signed Royer
NAPOLEON ERA...Circa 1800
This is a very fine quality Beautiful Antique French Hand Painted Miniature Portrait of a Young Couple Snuff Box. This stunning water colour miniature painting is signed Royer, crafted in France in the Napoleon Era circa 1800 making this wonderful snuff box over 200 years old. The detailing to this hand painted miniature Po...rtrait is superb, the young lady is sitting at the tea table wearing i belive her cream night gown with a wonderful pink shawl draped over her shoulders, the Gentleman sitting next to her seems to be wearing a lilac house coat and is offering the young lady his cup of tea, the painting is so very detailed, also on the table is a tea urn and cups, belhing the lady is a wonderful statue of cupid then next to the lady on a raised padded stool is her beloved little dog sleeping, i believe all these items have a meaning as this was extremely poplular in the Georgian period, this is a fine quality hand painted miniature and has a glass covering it for protection, this is then framed with a beautiful engraved gold colour frame, i will call it gold colour as it hasn't been tested, this miniature portrait and snuff box is so very typical of the french Napoleon era circa 1800 and is in wonderful condition, this would have once belonged to a young Gentleman and been given to him by his lady as a keep sake in circa 1800, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice,

Measurements......nearly 2.5 inches diameter....1 inch height
Condition, ....beautiful condition with just the normal amount of surface wear, the glass has a couple of chips to the outer edge and nicks to the edge on the inside of the snuff box, just mentioned for accuracy
