Excellent boxed Victorian sterling silver strawberry dish or bowl and matching spoon, fully hallmarked in London in 1898 with the makers mark for Mappin & Webb, excellent silversmiths. Fitted in its original box, the bowl is superbly made and decorated with strawberries and leaves, and 3 cherubs with wings round the body. It comes with its matching pierced spoon, and the bowl and spoon are gilded inside. In very good condition with no damage or repairs, but the inside of the bowl is sc...ratched probably from using the metal spoon. The rather large box is in quite good condition, the inside is excellent with velvet and satin lining, but as it’s probably been left in a cupboard for many years, the outside has become a little tatty. The bowl is 10cm high and width 15cm, the length of the spoon is 15.4cm and the width of the bowl is 5.5cms and they weigh 221.9gms (2). The total weight including the box is 753gms.
