VINTAGE 1955 MADAME ALEXANDER CISSY DOLL W/TAGGED RED & WHITE OUTFIT & WRIST TAG
Item History & Price
Please email with any questions. Vintage Madame Alexander CISSY Doll with tagged outfit and wrist tag. The wrist tag reads in part, "Madame Alexander offers for 1955 a completely new line of doll's apparel and accessories for all her girl dolls.". So that pretty well dates this doll to 1955. Cissy is 20" tall with ALEXANDER molded into the back of her head just below her strawberry-blonde wig. Her outfit is tagged on the candy stripe blouse. Cissy has a hard plastic body, head and... legs with bending knee. Her arms are soft plastic with a bend at the elbow. The arms have slightly different coloration than the rest of her and I guess that is how the different materials have aged. No splits on her legs at the top or at the knees. There is a tiny split at the top of her right arm but it is hidden by the shoulder socket and is only visible when you manipulate the arm out of the shoulder. Her eyes look hazel to me- a little green and a little amber. The red pinafore has a snap at the waist and the striped blouse has three working buttons down the front. She has on a pair of lace edged knickers and a petticoat edged in layers of ruffled netting and rick-rack. She has on a pair of seamed stockings and she came with one black shoe with stretched out elastic.Cissy's hair is untouched, her face looks good- some slight wear to the paint on her eyelids visible when her eyes close. I saw no marks or discoloration on her torso or limbs. Her head has a very slight wobble so she looks very agreeable and nods "yes" to anything. The little wrist tag is a bit creased and her clothes are a bit dusty. Elastic pretty much worn out on her petticoat and knickers. When I see a doll with a tag still on her wrist, I have to think that she was more of a display doll than a plaything. She came from a local estate and was found with dolls of a similar age.
