Being offered is a very large old antique Samoan war club referred to as a Nifo Otti. This example measures 45 1/4” in total length and is 6 1/4” wide at the very top, its widest point. It features 23 “teeth” 5 of which has been broken. There are 5 sections of carvings that range from just above the very bottom two teeth up to the very top of the club at its widest point. The carvings have a combination of triangular shapes, cross shapes, and paddle like shape...s. They are inlaid with lime much of which remains. The grip is nice and thick. The wood has some dings and other signs of wear throughout. The wood has a nice patina. This club most probably dates circa 1890-1920. A nice and large club. Please e-mail with any questions.
