Published by George and Charles Merriam. Springfield Mass. Corner of Main and State Streets. Revised and enlarged by Chauncey A. Goodrich, Professor in Yale College. Entered According to Act of Congress in the Year 1840 by Noah Webster, LL. D, In the clerks office of the District Court of Connecticut. G...eorge and Charles Merriam did the same in 1847. Stereotyped at the Boston Type and Stereotype Foundry. Printed by Case, Tiffany and Company, Hartford. Further Description: An American dictionary of the English language; containing the whole vocabulary of the first edition of two volumes quarto ... revised and enlarged by Chauncey Goodrich Webster, Noah. Large, engraved portrait of Webster by Andrews after Morse, pp. lxxxiv & 1366, [1], original full sheep, black morocco label on spine; binding scuffed and rubbed, but sound. Based on Webster's 1841 edition which contained his last corrections, as revised by his nephew, Chauncey Goodrich, professor at Yale.
