This presentation sword is in near mint condition with no blemishes on the blade which is etched on one side U.S at the midpoint along with an American Flag near the ricasso with banners. There is detailed scrolls and floral etching on more than 50% of the length. This side also has the maker marks of The M.C. Lilley & Co. Columbus Ohio at the ricasso.The opposite side of the blade has an American Eagle at the midpoint with a ribbon beneath saying E. Pluribus Unum and again there is scrollwork and floral etching on the near mint blade. No nicks or rust. Never sharpened. Tip sharp.Original leather washer in place.Beautfiul brass guard with Phyrigian helmet patterned pommel with detailed guilding almost all intact. One side of the guard facing the pommel has an American Eagle and under it stars. The opposite side has beams of light.The grip is in excellent condition with all original fish skin and wound with twisted gilt wire.Nickle scabbard with gilded brass mounts, throat, and drag with some light aging- etched with presentation.
