You are bidding on a VERY EARLY (BELIEVE POSSIBLY LATE 19th CENTURY to EARLY 20th CENTURY ERA BASED ON FAMILY INPUT) OLD NATIVE AMERICAN "PLAINS" BELIEVE SIOUX REGION HAND CRAFTED BEADED UMBILICAL LIZARD FETISH.....is is "as found" missing some horse hair, but all 8 tin cones are there, and beads appear mostly thereI am not an expert in old Native American beadwork....but thought this old beaded "LIZARD UMBILICAL FETISH" was fantastic....it is "as is", but genuine.......this came out of an Arizona estate, originally owned by grandparents who lived in Northwest, and it is believed this is from 1890-1920 based on the age when the grandparents were collecting items like this....POSSIBLY BOUGHT MANY YEARS AGO IN SOUTH DAKOTATHIS IS "AS FOUND"....IT IS MISSING SOME OF THE REDDISH HORSE HAIR ON TASSELS, BUT ALL 8 OF THE "TIN CONES" ARE INTACT, SO BELIEVE THAT COULD BE EASILY FIXED. ONE LEG IS SEPARATED A BIT...BUT ALSO THAT COULD BE STITCHED....HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY IN DISPLAY CASE FOR MANY YEARS, OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT, AND IN DRY CLIMATE.THIS IS BELIEVED TO BE PRETTY EARLY.....AND BELIEVE IT IS "PLAINS" (SIOUX, ETC) REGION NATIVE AMERICAN......THE MAIN LIZARD SECTION MEASURES 6 1/4" LONG, BUT WHEN YOU EXTEND THE CORNER TASSELS, ABOUT 8 1/4" LONG...I HAVE SEEN THESE OFFERED THAT ARE FAKES OR REPRODUCTIONS....THIS IS NOT...YES, IT IS "AS FOUND" BUT GENUINE, AND JUST NEEDS A LITTLE TLC.Gallery pictures should show you all you need to know.
