We are offering an unusual original antique circa 1900 hand painted porcelain occupational shaving mug that most likely belonged to a chef with the image of a mezzaluna, a rocking knife used for chopping herbs, veggies, nuts, etc. The knife has a wooden handle and bears the inscription that looks like "EST 1825"? with an illegible circular surround. Inscribed with the name "Howell M. Osborn". We found a Howell Marshall Osborn (1879-1950) online who lived in Hazleton, ...Pennsylvania. We just sold a stoneware jug from the same estate marked "M. Friedlander Hazleton, PA". In very good overall condition. No chips, cracks, repairs or other issues. Crisp & clean! There is light wear to the two gold bands and trim, but the name is bold with virtually no wear. Please study the photos as they are a part of the description. Measures 3 5/8" tall x 3 5/8" diameter at the top and the bottom. Marked "T&V LIMOGES FRANCE" on the bottom. Fresh out of a local collector's estate and offered here for the first time.
