A beautiful piece of Chinese silk hand embroidery.Circa early 1900's up to the 30's, possibly the 40's.
Hand embroidered by the mother of a girl about to be married, as was the Chinese tradition. The birds are mated and cannot be parted. If one dies the other commits suicide.
There are Chinese characters on the backside. I do not know the exact translation, but was told it is the name of the store that sold the silk.Gorgeous detailed embroidery.
