Antique Seth Thomas Kitchen 8 - Day Clock With Alarm. Circa 1916
Item History & Price
This "Kitchen" clock was made approx. 1916 Circa in Thomaston. The original paperwork is still visible on the back panel.
This kitchen clock comes with an alarm. The alarm is set by rotating the brass dia...l behind the hands. You simply line up the hour you want to the "hour" hand of the clock and wind the alarm gear. I do not have the key for the alarm gear but a simple pliers will do the trick. Once it's wound you cannot turn it off until the alarm goes off. The alarm bell was gold leafed since the original "Steel" look was nasty.
The finish is NOT original as the lower glass is missing the glass etching and the gilding on the towers appears to be painted over. The glass IS original and is "wavy" and even has an air bubble in the lower glass. (They wouldn't throw a glass away just because of a bubble)
The clock runs and chimes each hour and it has been oiled. I've never had any issues with it. The key not only winds the clock but it also locks the door. A feature I'm sure they put in place to keep young children from playing with the clock.
There are 2 blemishes in the case, one is located on the top of the arch in the back, and the other is on the right side of the door. Neither are very visible and really don't take away from the overall appearance. The clock measures 18 inches high, 10 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches deep.
I photograph in hi-resolution so you can see for yourself what it is you're bidding on. Please look carefully before bidding because I don't accept returns. If you have any questions, please ask.
