Wildfowler Canvasback Duck Decoys Balsa Old Saybrook (?) O. P. High Head
Item History & Price
Up for auction are a pair of Balsa Wood Wildfowler High Head Canvasbacks in used, Original Paint.
These are not stamped, but I was told they were from Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The Wildfowler Decoy Company thrived in Old Saybrook from 1939 until it was destroyed by a nighttime fire in 1957.
They are in very good used condition with normal wear for decoys of this age. See some minor dama...ge to the drake's tail. The hen has the original keel still attached, the drake does not. Still a very nice pair of Wildfowler decoys from the 40's or 50's. Both retain their original glass eyes. The bodies are approximately 13" long.
A very cool pair of old Canvasback decoys with lots of history!
I have been collecting old wooden decoys since 1974. Please ask any questions you may have. Thank-you.
