AntiqueSolid Silver Needle Case Dutch* Circa 1860 Thissolid silver needle has all over fluting and a shield shaped cartouche(not personalized) A snake wraps its way around the middle at theopening. Itis stampedwith the Dutch dagger hallmark used for 833/1000 pure silverfrom 1814-1905. It measuresalmost 4 1/2" long and is solid and heavy, 15.6 grams.
It has somedings but the overall conditionis nicewith no splits or loss at all and it screws togethe...r securely. Avery similarneedle case is shown on p. 85 (Plate 44) of Kay Sullivan'sbook Needlework Toolsand Accessories - A Dutch Tradition.
