Herewe have a heavy silver plate coffee pot with a wooden side handlemade by Reed & Barton for the US Navy. It has “USN” lightly engraved on the front alongwith the fouled anchor emblem (see pix). There is braided trim around thetop and bottom signifying that it was used in the Officer's Mess. Itis marked with the Reed & Barton mark on the bottom along with“silver soldered, ” and the numbers 3000 and 600. Six hundred isalso incised inside the lid. We believe that it is ...silver overcopper and it is much heavier than most silver plated pots. The insideshows wear from being used, but the outside has no dings or dents. We think it dates to WWll.
