12 CDVs Of Raphael ' S Renaissance, Frescoes, Hours Of Day And Night

A complete set of 12 CDVs — 6 hours of day and 6 hours of night — with imagery based on the work of Raphael. Each hand-colored CDV features the respective allegorical figure of floating, beautiful women draped in gowns. Each figure holds an item or animal suggesting a particular time of day or night. Each incorporates a predella in the lower border, respectively depicting scenes of animals, such as a squirrel driving a chariot pulled by a blue bird, and some more realist...ic, such as two dogs hunting a goat. The predella scenes also relate to the respective times of day and night. The allegorical figures are set against a black sky. And speaking of beautiful women, Raphael died at the age of 37 by having too much sex with his lover, La Fornarina, according to his biographer Georgio Vasari. In 50 years of collecting vintage photographs, we have never seen another set of these CDVs. The photographer's identification was on the back of one of these CDVs.
