T...he image is rendered in a wonderfully charming stylised manner with each element reduced to its most simplest of forms, as is typical with the best Scandinavian design.
This wonderfully whimsical design depicts a child climbing a tree to reach for the moon and stars while his father waits below ready to catch the boy if he falls. A simple log cabin features in the background while an array of flowers and trees balance the charming scene. The whimsical nature of the design adds a fabulous sense of magic to the ancient fairytale.
The design has been rendered in exquisite tones of deep rich cobalt blue, mottled mustard, earthy browns, black and white. The scene is outlined and detailed in black, its childlike unevenness creating the impression it has been hand-drawn which beautifully enhances the playful Scandinavian style.
This stunning plate is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. This piece has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.
This impressive plate measures approx 195mms in diameter.
The reverse side of the plate features the poetic lines of the fairytale which inspired the design.
