A lovely vintage ceramic elephant sculpture from the Van Briggle art pottery studios. Has gorgeous turquoise Ming blue glaze with matte finish. Elephant's reduced, solid form would make an excellent paper weight! Measures approx. 3.5"l x 2.5"h x 1.5"w. Marked on bottom with Van Briggle double A logo and hand signed "Van Briggle, Colo. Spgs.". Piece was most likely produced in the late 1920s or 1930s. It is in fair vintage condition, with substantial crazing to the glaze, a few scattered surfa...ce markings, a hairline crack through the base, and some flea biting to the bottom edges - see pictures. A beautiful example of Van Briggle craftsmanship!
