The Mamiya Six (c1942-1946) and Mamiya 6 (c1947-1957) were cameras made for 6x6 exposures on 120 film.
Some featured the option of 16 vertical exposures 6x4.5cm as well.
About a dozen models were made, making them extremely popular and very well regarded... by the public.
They all have coupled rangefinders, and as a very unusual feature, the knurled focusing wheel is just above the back door: by turning it, camera moves the film plane to focus while the lens remains stationary.
All folders open downward. The Mamiya-6 IV has a new top housing with only two windows for viewfinder and coupled rangefinder, no longer has reflex finder.Exposure counting ring below wind knob.Automatic film stop after aligning first frame with red window. This early type (c1947) still retains external synchronization in chrome housing above shutter.
Speeds 1-500s + B on Seikosha-Rapid shutter.
Camera is in superb cosmetic condition.
It has just been serviced (Sept 2020) for good working order.Folding operation is smooth.Viewfinder is clear.Speeds are spot on.Glass is crystal clear commensurate with age of the camera.Case has been sturdily repaired and re-stitched.
