The lens was mounted in a variable iris, since we didn't receive a flange with it. The...re is a slot for waterhouse stops, but we didn't have these either.The samples are just a quick example of different effects the lens can produce. Soft focus depends on where the lens is focused, as well as the level of diffusion, lighting or F-stop set. This lens works by rotating the back ring and setting the different notches; 1, 2, or 3. There didn't seem to be any set position for these, and the best effects will require experimentation. The oval marks are on the ground glass, which was set up for matted portrait photographs.

Dallmeyer designed this lens by reversing the rear element of a Petzval design.The catalog information states that only 18 feet of studio space is needed for a standing figure on a cabinet sized card with the 3D lens.
