Here is a very attractive 18 size Illinois Bunn 17 jewels pocket watch. The case is marked "10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE Illinois WATCH CASE CO." inside the case back. I can see worn gold plating spots on the edges and high points of case back, bezel, middle case and bow. You can see these worn gold plating spots in the picture and they look like rings of a little darker color on the high points and edges of case back and bezel.. The case back has a couple of shallow ...small dents. There are minor surface scratches coming from normal use. Both bezel and case back screw on & off nicely and when they are closed, there aren't any excess spaces between them and the middle case. I don't think this case has ever been abused, but it was well used. The bow is firm.
The crystal is plastic and there are surface scratches, but they are not very noticeable. I don't think you will need a replacement crystal unless you are planning to chage it with a glass crystal.
The dial has some damages. There is a repair mark where hands are attached. There are a few hairlines. One starts from where hands are attached and it reaches to 1 o'clock marker. The other one is around 12 o'clock position, between 11:30 and 12:30. The last one starts 47 second position of small second track and it reaches to 8 o'clock marker. There are small edge chips between 7 and 8 o'clock. There is a small chips around second hand hole.
The hour and minute hands are dark blue color and the minute hand has some minor rust on its tip. The second hand is black color.
The movement is really attractive with rose gold wavy pattern. The movement is marked "Bunn Springfield, Ill. SAFETY PINION ADJUSTED 17 JEWELS 1469730". According to this serial number, this watch is from around year 1902. The jewel settings are beautiful rose gold color. There are minor rust spots on the swan neck shaped regulator. There is no noticeable surface scratches on this movement and it looks really nice. I can set time, wind and this watch runs with good balance motion. It gains a couple of minutes a day at dial up position. If you're planning to wear this watch daily or very often, I strongly recommend to have this watch serviced by a professional watchmaker who has good experiences with old pocket watches before you wear daily. Unfortunately, I can't offer you any future warranties on this watch as this is 117 years old antique and also any fine mechanical pieces like this one always have some possibilities to have some issues anytime in the future even with your proper care.
