A 12-page-plus-cover Price List for the Willcox& Gibbs Automatic domestic
chain-stitch machine introduced in 1875.
...The rear cover has gone walkabout and the frontcover is loose.
But there is no paper loss throughout the bookletwhich has been updated,
presumably by the salesman, and shows prices for hand machinesvirtually
doubled, and for treadle models increased by even more than that.
Obviously, something was going on at the time anda simple treadle, which
earlier had sold for less than £10, now had its pricealtered to over £22. And
the common accessories such as needles and hemmers, etc, had prices
increased by 100%.
The booklet, which was produced by the Englishbranch of the Company in
Fore Street, London, runs to 12 pages plus cover, measuring 5 inches/125mm
x 7 inches/180mm.
There is a vertical distinctvertical fold but no tears and, apart from the missing
plain back cover, nopaper loss. (BG1H)
