This is an extremely rare used copy with light but normal shelf wearing and rubbing to edges and corners. Spine edges showing slight rubbing. Interior is clean and sound with little signs it was ever read. It was read very rarely, if ever, and has minimal signs of use. For a vintage paperback, it is one of the better copies of this book I have seen in a very long time. .The Price of Salt (later re...published under the title Carol ) is a 1952 romance novel by Patricia Highsmith, first published under the pseudonym " Claire Morgan ".
Highsmith -- known as a suspense writer -- used an alias because she did not want to be tagged as "a lesbian-book writer", and because of the use of her own life references for characters and occurrences in the story. Though Highsmith had many sexual and romantic relationships with women and wrote over 22 novels and numerous short stories, The Price of Salt is her only novel about an unequivocal lesbian relationship and its relatively happy ending was unprecedented in this type of literature. True collectible and not normally available in this condition if at all.
The film Carol with Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett is based on this book.
