DESCRIPTIONThis updated 1924 edition of Webster's celebrated dictionary is scarcely presented in a single volume, and indeed the size of this book is more fitting the vast wealth of information within. Completely revising its predecessors, this work includes over 400, 000 entries and several pages of monochrome vignette illustrations.Inscription to the front paste-down: B. H. Clifton, 155 Farnham Road, Handsworth, Birmingham 21.In scope and substance 'Webster's New International Dictionary' was unparalleled in its day.
CONDITIONIn the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally sound. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities, and handling marks to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound, though tender in places, including the first 480 pages which are attached to the rest of the text block by two chords only and may detach with further handling, but remain bound to each other and to the front board, which in turn remains firmly joined to the spine. Pages are generally bright and clean with some handling marks throughout. Creasing to the title page.Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition(Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present)Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wearVery Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copyVery Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copyGood - Meaning not very good.
