This is March 6, 1907 private printing of Soldier Life, A Narrative of the Civil War, the personal memoirs of B. F. Thomas, Sergeant, Company G, Fourteenth Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Army. The cover (app. 10.5" x 7.75") is missing the spine's surface layer, with the binding loose throughout the book. There is minor wear to the cover's outside corners. The gilt lettering is faded, but legible. The frontispiece portrait of Thomas is signed. This appears to me to be an actual signa...ture, rather than a facsimile, but I can't say that for certain. The pages are, excepting the partial looseness to the binding throughout, in good overall condition, with some shallow edge wear, including a few border tears, but with no deep tears or significant stains, except for one spread, in which newspaper clippings (from 1919) had been left in place, resulting in 2 tanned pages. I've left those articles in the inside cover spread. The only writing is a name, James Wilson, on the front end page. There are no stamps or other attachments. One photo, of Thomas and three others, is laid in loosely (see photo). This book appears to be complete. I see completely loose or missing pages. The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the book conditions.TERMS OF PAYMENTUS bidders Priority insured shipping within the US.International Bidders International bidders should note that this would be sent priority or priority express, insured.
