This 2 volume complete set is bound in ¾ leather over marbled paper boards with the titles in gilt on brown leather labels on the spines.The set has marbled endpapers and all page edges are marbled.
The spines have 5 raised... bands with gilt decoration.
Each spine compartment is decorated with blind stamped tooling.
Each volume measures approx 8¾" x 5¾".

Samuel Johnson was an English writer who made lasting contributions to English literature as a poet, playwright, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor, and lexicographer. Religiously, he was a devout Anglican and politically a committed Tory.
There are a few minor scuffs to the bindings (see photos), occasional foxing throughout and 2 pages have the bottom right corner missing (not affecting the text).
The binding and contents are in very nice, tight, sound condition.
