The book (Folio) is attractively bound in the original gi...lt tooled leather, based on Royal Binding, with spine in six compartments divided by raised bands, gilt lettering and numbering pieces in compartments two, three, four and to the bottom. Joints are rubbed and tender, the bottom front just starting; spine is heavily rubbed, with some scuffing, heavy shelf wear to the head and foot ends; boards with just minor wear and markings.Inside:
Just occasional spotting to edges, minor, with browning and foxing to the lining papers.Complete with 7 leaves of portrait plate, as called for, all with guard sheet.There are no rips or tears, just a few minor bumps to edges and the odd paper flaw to an edge. Straining at the gutter at 256/257 with slight gapping; lining papers are repaired/strengthened at the gutter in cloth. The inner hinges are sound.
The book measures 30 cm x 19.5 cm and weighs 1.270kg without packaging.
