Lovely volume describing characters and plot of many famous operas, illustrated with black and white photographic pictures and line drawn illustrations of famous opera characters, portrayed by known actors, in full costumes. Very interesting for any opera lover. Produced as a promotion for Gramophone records I believe, as many entries also describe the correspondin...g "His Master's Voice" record for the piece.
THe finale few pages are dedicated to describing some "Milestones in the history of the Gramophone Company, Ltd" - photographic pictures of founders and employees, laying corner stone of the Record Factory in 1907, grand opening of factory, and important personages in the company. Neat additional history of one of the earliest record companies.
Decent condition. Cover is in good shape, beautiful gold stamped title design and spine titleing on orange-brown cloth. Joints are sloppy and loose, endpaper joints are torn but covers holding on by the fabric mull. Text block is very heavy, still solidly bound. Pages clean and flat, no smoke or smell.
Apologies for the high shipping cost, the book is quite heavy and shipping from Canada is high.
