Stanley No 3 Smooth Plane Type 15 1931-32 SW Restored Tuned. 100% new black japanning, no breaks cracks chips or repairs to the body or frog. The rosewood tote and knob are free of cracks chips or repairs, just a few tool box dings. They have both been re-lacquered and then hand polished to a silky smooth feel. New decal on the tote, lacquered over so it won’t come off if used. The sole has been lightly lapped and checked at the toe mouth and heel. The near full length iron has been ...lapped flat on the back and then honed with a 10, 000 grit Ohishi Water Stone. Scary Sharp!!!!!! Makes see through shavings in black cherry and leaves a finish as smooth as glass. The edges of the iron have been relieved to prevent those plane tracks on super thin shavings. (As a smooth plane should be). The lever cap and chip breaker have been lapped at their contact points with the iron to ensure a firm seat and reduce chatter. The frog adjustment tab and screw have been re-blued just like they were when they left New Britain 88 or so years ago. A wonderful plane to use, or look at if that’s what you wanna do with it.
