Item History & Price

This is a turntable that was removed from the basement of a big Phil...adelphia theater during the 1970's and has been within my collection since that time. (there were two of these turntables, and the other was sold on ebay several years ago)
A true relic, this turntable is obviously very heavy. The wooden stand on which it sits was made as a simple support for the turntable after it was detached from the projector and removed from the theater close to 45 years ago. In the first photo, on the left side of the projector, the bracket that bolted the turntable assembly to the projector is visible. No attempt was made at any restoration and it has never been attempted for actual use. It has simply been kept, as is, since it has long been felt that it really belongs in some sort of museum of early film or recording equipment. The turntable is obviously sold "as is" and must be picked up in person, or arranged to be picked up by someone designated by the buyer to do so. It resides, as it has for decades, within my home in Wilmington, Delaware.
This Western Electric drive Vitaphone turntable still has its original Western Electric tonearm, pickup, with its original Western Electric 4A reproducer head. The original booklet of "Operating Instructions", issued by ERPI, that was found with the turntable, is included (see photos of booklet cover and a page showing the turntable's operation).
I've taken photos to show the turntable from different angles, as best I can. While I'm not, in any sense, an electronics specialist, I will answer any questions as much as possible, based upon my decades of collecting various Vitaphone discs / records and other materials.
Again, this heavy turntable must be picked up in person, or by someone designated by the buyer to do so.
