Revox PR99 MK III Stereo Reel To Reel Tape Recorder (High Speed Version)
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:29706870 | Model: PR99 MK III |
Brand: Revox | Type: Tape Recorder |
Up for your consideration is a Revox PR99 MKIII Stereo Reel To Reel Tape Recorder (High Speed 7 1/2 ips / 15 ips Version) No reels or hubs are included, only the machine itself and AC power cord.
I purchased several used reel to reels (including this Revox) several years ago. It was my intention to learn all about them as I wanted to eventually take up the hobby of rep...air and restoration, but due to lack of time I simply never got around to it. As a result, this PR99 has since been sitting in my closet and has not been used once after receiving it other than the limited testing (see below) for this listing. At this point I would just like to recoup the money I spent as it is taking up what little storage space I have left.
This PR99 MKIII is very clean considering it's age and has very little noticeable exterior scratches or scuffs and no dents. All knobs, switches, and buttons (except for the CH 1 "Record Ready" switch) are present. The rubber on the pinch roller appears to be intact and the LED timer has no missing segments. The amount of hours/use of the machine and condition of the heads is unknown. As I do not own any reels or hubs, testing on this machine has been very limited and therefore I cannot comment on the quality of audio Playback or Recording.
The following components below have been tested and verified working. Anything outside of the items listed below are to be considered NOT tested and therefore condition is unknown.
- Play, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind and Pause buttons on Transport are operational. (Record has not been verified)
- Brakes are very smooth, especially when going from Fast Forward to Rewind for example.
- Speed button (7 1/2 ips and 15 ips) is operational.
Some issues with the machine I have noticed:
- When playing at either speed, the supply flywheel needs just the slightest nudge to get going.
- The end of the "Record Ready" switch on CH 1 is missing but appears to still be operable.- Some slight resistance when turning the CH 1 Input Level knob.
- The "Variable Speed" bulb does not light when engaged.- The VU Meter bulbs do not light when the unit is powered on.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. I will do my best to answer them. Thank you for taking the time to view my listing and have a great day!
