Upfor sale here is this Sansui F-2547 protection board rebuild set. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild an F-2547 protection board for a Sansui 8080, 9090, 890, or 990. This is not for the Sansui 8080DB or 9090DB, but that kit will be available soon.
Over time the protection boards start developing issues with the capacitors, transistors, resistors, and relay, and often the old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit incl...udes enough parts to replace all the electrolytic capacitors (including the two bipolar caps), all four transistors, the two fuse resistors, the R12 resistor that takes a beating, and the relay.
These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are all Nichicon PW, Nichicon Muse, and Wima film caps at the correct uf and the same or higher voltage ratings, the transistors are the correct Fairchild/Onsemi subs for the original transistors, and the relay is a new Omron part. These are not cheap Made in China parts, they are extremely high-quality and they are what I use when I rebuild Sansui gear. Just replacing the capacitors is a waste of time--you need to replace the transistors, fuse resistors, and the relay as well, which is why this kit covers all that.
I will include a surprisingly well-written instruction sheet, but this is a fairly complicated and delicate rebuild, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester. The instructions will explain how to access the protection board, and will also explain the 8080/9090 service bulletin and the "light mod" that keeps the tuning dial lit no matter which source is selected.
This kit may not fix your Sansui if it has other issues, but it will definitely help it run better, and should fix almost any protection board problems. Please see my pictures for details.
