It measures 84" by 68" across and weighs 5 lbs unboxed. The bed is a queen, 80" by 60".
The appliques were made of feed sack scraps and other old fabrics. They were pieced by hand, the sewn to the off-white fabric by hand as well. The quilting was done by hand. The batting is cotton.
The backing is vintage, but not as old as the applique top. We believe the makers of the quilt used a very old Sunbonnet Sue quilt top and used then cotton batting and that nice flowery fabric ...as backing, to put together the wonderful quilt you see here today.
