The Bru-ell decoy name originated with Bruce and Helen Wakefield. The Bru is for Bruce and the ell is for Helen. They were from Watkins, Minn. The company began in the 1950's when Bruce suffered a broken back due to a falling tree. He could no longer manage their farm or raise mink and cattle. Bruce decided to make and market fish decoys. Since the company’s conception, thousands of their fish decoys have seen action beneath the ice. The Wakefield's made a multitude of colors and siz...es ranging from three to 14 inches in length. This 7 1/2 muskie that has been in our display case for several years, but it is time to clean out the old to make room for the new. The Bru-ell is a true working decoy, weighted and made to swim below the ice. It also is a classic piece of Minnesota art.
