Royal Doulton - Old Charley- Large Toby Teapot D6017 1940.Rare This is a rare large Royal Doulton Teapot of Old Charley, one of the earliest Royal Doulton Tobies. This teapot was designed by Charles Noke. Issued 1939-1960. "Old Charley" is wearing a a dark brown coat, pinkvest and a brown hat. One arm holds a lantern and the other is the handle ofthe teapot. The Toby teapot has a Royal Doulton backstamp with the BritishRegistration Number 832782, which means the pattern... was registered in 1940. The large sized teapot is 6 3/4 inches tall by 9 inches widefrom spout to handle. It weighs 2 lb 6oz . Condition: This presents very well but has a few issues.There is some crazing of the glaze, particularly on the lighter glazes (notmuch on the browns). Under lid, one1” side of the lip is missing. Undersprout small chip. No cracks or any other issues. The lid sits very well. Like I said these defects are there but can hardly be seenand presents very well. Needs a new home.
