1930's Art Deco 'LA PENDASTRAVA' French Mantle COIN Clock - RAREMeasures 14"W x 9"H x 5"DIt runs without adding coins. Apparently it could be set up to accept 2 fr. pieces in the coin slot to start the clock and was linked to an insurance policy of some sort through the built in piggy bank.
The back does not open with a key and has a very snug fit. The drawer has to slide out to open and then the upper piece of wood slides down to the slot in the case where it can be... removed.
The striking mechanism chimes on the hour and half hour with a nice deep sound.The roman numerals are a deep blue color.
Clock runs and is in overall good condition. As with any old clock, it is recommended to have it serviced to achieve optimal time keeping.Good vintage condition. The key is not original to the clock. The front of the clock cabinet marquetry has a few what look to be dry areas, I tried to capture it in the last two pictures. It may just need some wood polish to bring back its luster. The metal rim around the glass shows a mixture of dirt/residue that will clean off and some areas where the finish has worn off. Please see pictures for details and condition.
