Up for your consideration: AntiqueVan Briggle Matte Purple over Turquoise Pottery Creamer Pitcher. Pitcheris about 5” tall and the diameter is about 5”. It is made by Van BrigglePottery and Marked on the bottom. The pitcher is elegantly done in a mattesatin glaze which was inspired by the artist tour through Asia during the late1800’s. His work were created in anarray of shapes and colors which spoke to the Arts and crafts style soprevalent dur...ing the first years of manufacturing and acted as a guidingprinciple throughout the company’s existence. The company was founded by Artist Van Briggle in the spring of1901 in Colorado Springs. Van Briggle, who was an artist for the Rookwood Companyuntil the late 1800's, moved there for health reasons. His passion for art, anddrive to create something distinctly American, is what drove this company'ssuccess. It was the longest continuously operated art company in Americanhistory, having closed their doors in spring of 2012.
