Major General John David "JD" Moore earned his Air Force wings in 1952, and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command shortly thereafter, where he served as a lead crew commander and standardization officer on B-47 and B-52 strategic bombers. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1968, and then served with the 728th Military Airlift Squadron at March AFB, CA in the early 1970s. That squadron flew C-141 Starlifters in Operation Homecoming in early 1973, the repatriation of American POW...s being held in North Vietnam. After the war, General Moore assumed command of a KC-135 tanker squadron and then an entire Air Mobility Wing, eventually earning two stars and the rank of Major General. This pair of US Air Force USAF Post-Vietnam 1980s MAJOR GENERAL JOHN MOORE RANK EPAULETS are in excellent condition, with some light "browning" at front, and with some light scattered loose embroidery and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the epaulets are in excellent shape, with no other damage to the crisp blue wool construction. Most interestingly, they boast the classic Major General's design embroidered in elegant silver bullion at front, sport the traditional slide-on openings, and are attributed to Major General John D. Moore. A beautiful example of rare, original US Air Force USAF Post-Vietnam 1980s MAJOR GENERAL JOHN MOORE RANK EPAULETS. We have shown a photo of then Brigadier General Moore in the late 1970s. Now celebrating over 15 years on eBay. Bid with confidence and please view our other great military and aviation classics, including a US Air Force USAF Vietnam MWC PILOT GG-W-113 QUARTZ WRIST WATCH in MINT, unworn, new in the box condition, sporting a crisp 12/24 hour (outer/inner) black dial, and featuring the classic sweeping seconds hand with hacking function.Abramsantiques appreciates your positive feedback and full five star ratings.
