Antique, unusual Chinese export silver vertical cigarette box - Circa 1900
The covered box was probably made to hold a cigarette box with the carton - size is perfect for a standard-size box
The box rests attached on a pagoda-style base chased with horned masks - The body is chased with a dragon, on one side and a phoenix bird, on the other - The hinged lid is chased with a Buddhist symbol
The work is done in repousse technique with nice detail and proportion - It is made ...of solid silver 900/1000 purity
Very good condition for the age - no losses or dents - good, tight closure - The lid's hinge is a bit bent - Please view all detailed pictures
It measures 8.5 cm wide x 4.6 cm deep (these are measurements with the base) - The case itself is 9.3 cm tall x 6.7 cm wide x 2.8 cm thick - Weight is 116 grams
