Up for auction is a RARE and very old Chinese Export Silver SNUFF BOX, with extensive FIGURAL SCENES, probably made by WONGSHING c.1840.This lovely snuff box has scenes covering the TOP, BOTTOM and ALL 4 SIDES. There are MANY FIGURES, CATTLE, BOATS, BUILDINGS, TREES and FOLIAGE. There is a central raised cartouche. The scenes are very well chased and remarkably well preserved for such an early/old box. The interior retains its original soft gold wash. There is a nice aged pitting.The H...INGED LID/COVER closes nice and snuggly.There is a W mark to the lid/cover. This is probably the maker's mark of WONGSHING of Canton c.1840.The box measures approx 7cm long x 4.25cm wide/deep. The box feels solid in the hand and weighs approx. 90 GRAMS (nearly 3 TROY OUNCES).CONDITION : GOOD CONDITION WITH NO REPAIRS, NO DAMAGE.PLEASE NOTE : I have been buying, selling and collecting good silver and objects of vertu since 1986.
