Remarkably there are NOnicks, dents or dings on this rare Zildjian. It's in GREAT SHAPE with a lovely over half-century patina that has befriended it. The center hole measures a pinch over .5". This cymbal has an amazing well-seasoned vibe--this is literally the TONE that made Zildjian famous. And check out the Old School lathing and Hand Hammering--that ain't a modern Zildjian BABY! Look at the underside!
Playing a 70 to 80 year old Zildjian is a real JOY! I find it inspiring! Weighing in at a perfect 1483 grams, this well over half century old Vintage Zildjian plays like a great THIN to Medium Thin Crash or mellow, AIRY Light Left Side Crash Ride!! A perfect old school Light or Left Side Ride. It's got lovely, glowing, fairly COMPLEX vibe to it. But being a smaller 18", it's beautifully controlled! The tone is semi-dark, making this 18" extremely versatile! Again, this cymbal has a "played in" vibe to it, which is not surprisingly considering it is from the 1940s.Super Mellow. Light and AIRY. Over half a century naturally aged. Subtle glowing, sparkling stick attack with a smooth, controlled semi-dark and complex wash. Crashable. Rideable. And the 18" size keeps it contained.
If you want a Vintage tone then go to the source. THIS cymbal is THE SOURCE! And it's in GREAT SHAPE TOO!
Obviously this 1940s Vintage Zildjian 18" Light Crash Ride is a no brainer for jazz, swing, jump blues, hard bop, bebop, ballads, and soul. But the fun sure as hell doesn't stop there. And if you're a collector, perch this beauty up alongside your vintage 40s or 50s tubs and welcome the serenity that will descend upon you. $440??? $400 for the modern ones just trying to IMITATE WHAT THIS CYMBAL ALREADY DOES???Ummmmmm....THIS CYMBAL is The ORIGINAL.
