Anthuriums with textured leaves always catch my eye. Add to that unusual shape and appealing color, and you have something really special. Anthurium cutucuense combines all of these qualities: a bullate texture that is very attractive on a trilobed leaf with a bright red midrib and spotted red petioles. The overall effect is amazing! This very beautiful species was discovered in SE Ecuador and not described until the late 1970's. This species can be hard to find and is n...ot commonly offered for sale.Anthurium cutucuense occurs in SE Ecuador near the border with Peru, primarily at elevations of 1800-2300 m (5900-7500 feet). It seems to grow well at temperatures from the low-40s through the low-90s, though cooler temperatures are preferred. This species requires a potting mix that holds moisture but doesn't stay too soggy. I use loosely packed sphagnum moss, which seems to work well.This is an opportunity to own a beautiful and very uncommon Anthurium. The first four photos show a mature plant, with the beautifully rugose leaves and colorful petiole. You are bidding on the plant in photos 5-7, a healthy specimen in a 3.25" pot. This plant dropped most of its leaves during a heat wave earlier in the summer, but it's recovering nicely and putting on new growth.***Shipments to addresses outside the United States are at the buyer's risk.
