Welsh and Brother sterling silver handchased pedestal bowl, Baltimore circa 1902. An eight-inch bowl with a base of support ornamentedthroughout in a magnificent repousse technique representation of foliage. More precisely the repousse pattern contains arepresentation in deep relief of leaves including scrolling acanthus and curvingferns, and flower blossoms including lilacs, daisies and roses. The upper outeredge of the bowl has an applied rim decorated with acanthus scrol...lwork. Theinside of the bowl is monogramed and dated 1902. The underside of the base is clearlyhallmarked for Welsh & Bro. and sterling. The American SilversmithsDirectory has written that Welsh and Brother, Baltimore, made sterlingholloware, retailed flatware from 1887 to 1910. Weight –A USPS automated scale weighed the centerpiece bowl at about 20.5 regular ouncesor 586 grams more or less. Condition– This centerpiece bowl is in good antique condition. It has a rich sterlingfinish with superb detail work. The inside of the bowl has two pointy dingsalong with obscure fleabites on and about the monogram and date. Dimensions – This pedestal bowl measures about 6 inches tall. The upperouter edge of the bowl has a diameter of 8 inches more or less.
