This is a really fantastic and fine quality, Raj Era, Indian silver bowl.
The bowl is in an interesting rounded, bulbous shape, sitting upon a sturdy square base.
In the second half of the 19th century, Kashmir's silversmiths were mostly Muslims, and they incorporated in their designs, very intricate patterns of interwoven vines and flowers, reminiscent of woven paisley patterns used in the finest garment manufacture.
This bowl is chased all over in this fashio...n. The rim is pierced all around with a repeated floral emblem, and the square base also has a naturalistic leaf band all around.
The interior retains much of its original gilding.
The bowl is in excellent antique condition with just the odd very minor ding around the rim. There is a tiny hole about 3mm x 1mm i the join between the base and the bowl; you can just about make this out as a dark speck in the last photograph.
The bowl weighs 151 g and is 68 mm tall and 84 mm wide.
All in all, a very lovely bowl which displays beautifully.
I also have listed an Indian silver jug, and a pair of Indian silver salts, and I am happy to combine postage for successful bidders.
