Before the 1980s the Iraqi Armed Forces had used various steel helmets and were used by the Iraqi Army during the long war with Iran in the... 1980's and also the first Gulf War in 1991 to include Operation Desert Storm and the 2003 Invasion of Iraq/Operation Iraqi Freedom. GIs have seen a variety of helmets in Iraq, such as the WW2 British Army Brodie Helmet, various non-US M1 helmets, the Romanian M73 helmet, the Russian SH68 steel helmet, and the Polish VZ67 steel helmet. Even now the Iraqi army has about 20 different types of camouflage uniforms from a variety of countries.
