An excellent example of one of Victor's earliest, outside-horn, rear-mount phonographs. This dates to about 1903, when Victor began offering the rear-mount with tapered tone arm as an optional upgrade to the front...-mount system. Interestingly, Victor left the mounting bracket for the front-mount in place. The model designation for the rear-mount setup was subsequently changed to a Victor "III", but this one is still marked "M"
The beautiful Golden Oak cabinet, which measures about 13" x 13" is in outstanding original condition, featuring the ornate, fluted corner posts, complex moldings, carved trim, etc.
The mechanism consists of a 2-spring motor, driving a 10" turntable. We have serviced and lubricated it so that it will give years of trouble-free use.
The back bracket, with original striping, is in mint condition. The tapered arm has excellent nickel plating, and the Exhibition reproducer has recently been professionally rebuilt.
The petal horn is later made, by Don Gfell, has no no dings, dents or splits.
