For your consideration: a lovely crisp/solid medium green example of a Johnston & Co. squat porter beer bottle. It was blown in green glass batch into a two-part private mold and finished with an applied double-tapered lip. This is the earlier variant of this bottle with the simple dart-motif-type serif on the embossed " J " initial on the reverse, vs. the more intricate serifed " J " which is normally encountered. This could either be an entirely different mold o...r perhaps the reverse leaf was replaced. This was recovered in a Philadelphia privy excavation in the last year. It is amazingly great dug condition with the mildest use wear and almost no ground wear at all. No damage. Very light scuffing on the reverse as seen. The body shows some nice wonky bending on the left-side body. Real nice evidence of the hand-made object. A super example. It measures: 6 3/4" x 2 11/16".
