Original Description:
We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currentlylisted along with an equally impressive number of music boxes and othervery nice antique and vintage collectibles.  Be sure to have a look atour other items! This is an outstanding find of a very nice, well preserved, working, key wind, chiming antique wood mantel clock that was produced about 120 years ago in "Forestville Connecticut, USA" by the "Sessions Clock Company, " one of the finest clock makers in all... of history.  It is a very fancy, columnar wood clock and has cast brass trim everywhere and stunning, very unusual finish.  There are fancy, cast metal feet in each corner underneath the case for support and large fancy cast metal handles on the sides to allow for easy portage.  There are two fancy columns on either side of the dial and each column has a simulated marble base and top too.  There is hinged ornate brass bezel surrounding the metal dial and a convex glass crystal is inset into it; no cracks or chips that I can see.  It opens easily to allow access to the dial in order to set the current time and wind the clock on the two arbors located here.  The soft almond dial features large fancy black numerals to mark the hours and equally fancy metal hands to point out the time.  There is a slow/fast adjustment on the dial as well located at the 12 o'clock position.  This allows you to speed up or slow the clock timing in case it ever needs to be done.  The phrase, "Made by The Sessions Clock Company, Forestville Connecticut, USA" appears in small print at the bottom of the dial.  The back is wooden too and is secured with a latch in each corner.  It removes to allow for hanging the metal pendulum and for servicing the mechanical movement.  The clock is fitted with a key wind, mechanical movement that lasts for about 8 days or so on a single wind.  It winds through the two arbor holes on the dial and at the bottom of the hour, strikes a single chime on a coiled cathedral chime inside the case.  At the top of the hour, the clock chimes the current number of hours; reminds me of Big Ben in London!  The clock works quite well here, keeps good time, and the chimes are beautiful.  I did notice that the hourly chime sometimes fails to chime the current hour but it usually chimes once; undoubtedly needs a spot of oil or adjustment.  Keep in mind this is a very old clock and we don't know the service history.  Even though the mechanics appear to have been maintained over the years, some adjustments or service will be necessary once the clock arrives at its newhome.  It's been working all week in my office and has kept good time.  We always recommend to our clock customers to service their antiqueor vintage clocks at least once every three years.  Doing so will preservea quality clock like this one and keep it healthy for years to come.  I'velooked the clock over fairly well and it does show some wear and a nick here and there but nothing detracting.  It is absolutely gorgeous on display!  The clock is most impressive and equally so in size too measuring about 11 1/4" high, about 6 1/2" at its deepest point, and about 15 1/2" or so across the base.  This clock is ina league all its own and would be a real prize in any collection.  It is certain to capture the imagination of any guests in yourhome, office, or wherever it is that you care to showcase an unusual, highquality, rare, antique American timepiece with a genuine legacy behind it!  Bid with confidence; I know you'll love this clock! If you like this item and I'm sure you do, then I know you'lllove the otheritems we have listed!  Check back frequently sincewe're listing a lot of antique/vintage items as time allows! We're selling this item and everything else we list with NoReserve, AS-IS, No Returns or Refunds, and a low starting bid so thateveryone has an equal chance to own this rare clock!  We'd beglad to send more pictures if available; just ask!  My wife andI have been accumulating lots of nice antiques and other collectors items overthe years.  But now is a good time to start clearing out the thingswe no longer wish to keep.  We will give the money we raise fromebay sales to a ministry we support that is helping toconstruct orphan homes and schools in Kenya and China, resettle refugeesfrom the Sudan, and lending assistance to victims of terror like those inIsrael.  It's just something we enjoydoing and this is where your money will go once you have paid for thisitem.  We do all that we can to accurately describe each item tothe best of our ability.  Our terms are pretty simple; payment is due within 2 days of the close of sale.  The winning bidder will be sent an invoicefollowing the close of sale through EBAY Checkout.  Buyer is to pay forshipping and handling.
