An early antique English silver chatelaine, with a wooden bobbin and two needle sheaths. Inscribed to the hook 'Esther Lynch Salusbury, 1762'. With an old paper slip of provenance, from the collection of British poet Dante Gabriel Rosetti, founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
Hester / Esther Lynch Salusbury (later Hester Thrale & Hester Piozzi), was a Wels...h author and her diaries & correspondence are an important source of information about Samuel Johnson and 18th-century English life.

Most intriguing, lovely original condition & immensely collectible!CONDITION: All original and generally good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use.DEFECTS: None.DATE/MARKS: Around 1762. Not marked.DIMENSIONS: Approx. 7 ½ inches long overall (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
